transfer, transport, transmit
這幾個詞曾一度讓我很頭痛，因為這些詞都被翻譯成了”傳輸“，從中文的角度來說，不是那么好理解。
beyond: move past something(超過，超越)，extend past limit(超出限制)。
across: move from one side to another(從一邊到另一邊，穿過，跨過)。
transfer
- transfer: trans-(“beyond, across”) + ferre(“to carry”)
vi/vt. transfer literally means “carry across”. convey something from one person, place or situation to another(強調從一個地方轉移到另一個地方，強調"convey, change")。
- 示例
- File Transfer Protocol(FTP，文件傳輸協議)。
- We transferred the baby’s car seat to the other car(我們將寶寶椅挪到另一輛車上了)。
transport & transportation
- transport: trans-(“beyond, across”) + portare(“to carry”)
vt. transport literally means “carry across”. to carry physical items or people(強調運送實體物品或者人，強調"carry, process")。
- transport/transportation
u. the act of transport(英式英語中，transport 的名詞形式是 transport， 即動詞和名詞是同一個詞；在美式英語中， transport的名詞形式是 transportation); vehicles, such as buses, trains, aircraft, etc(交通工具)。
- 示例
- transport layer(OSI七層通信模型中的“傳輸層”)。
transport layer 為什么使用 transport 呢？因為想表達"The transport layer is the vehicle for moving data"。
- The movie transports us to a world of stunning beauty(這部電影把我們帶入了一個美麗絕倫的世界)。
transmit & transmission
- transmit: trans-(“beyond, across”) + mittere(“to send”)
vi/vt. transmit literally means “send across”. transmit 和 transfer，transport 完全是不一樣的意思，強調"send, spread"。
- transmission
c/u. the act of transmit(transmission 是 transmit 的名詞形式)。
- 示例
- transmission control protocol(TCP，傳輸控制協議)。
- transmitting and receiving radio signals(發送和接受無線型號)。
